Description

A few rocks on the right, the coastline dissolving into haze, a distant island sitting low and barely there across water that has gone completely still and the color of pale peach. Dudici at sunset, the Adriatic doing what the Adriatic does at the end of a long summer day, which is make everything else feel unnecessary. The watercolor palette is stripped back to almost nothing, soft blush pinks and warm lavenders and that particular luminous peach that only happens in the twenty minutes before the light finally goes. The painting knows when to stop, which is the hardest thing for any landscape to get right. The matte canvas finish handles those delicate washes beautifully, keeping the transitions seamless and the colors true. Gallery-stretched on a slim 1.25" pine frame and ready to hang out of the box, it's for anyone who has watched the sun go down over the Adriatic and run out of things to say about it.
