Description

Looking out over the rooftops of Dubrovnik toward the open sea, the old city walls stepping down on the left, the limestone cliffs and pines of the headland pushing in from the right, and between them a wide strip of blue Adriatic going all the way to the horizon under a sky that has gone pink and hazy at the edges. It's a view from somewhere high up inside the city, the kind you stumble onto through an archway or up a staircase and then just stop. The watercolor palette captures the particular quality of Dubrovnik light, warm dusty tones in the stone, deep blue in the water, the pink and lavender of a sky that can't quite decide if the day is over.
