Description

A small boat tied to a stone bollard at the edge of a very quiet bay, the water barely moving, the opposite shore sitting low and hazy in the distance, a pale sky above it all that can't quite be called any one color. Caska on a still morning, the kind where sound carries and nothing is in a hurry. The watercolor palette is deliberately restrained, soft blues and warm creams and the muted stone tones of the quay, the whole scene painted with a flat, almost graphic simplicity that gives it a calm, printlike quality. The boat is the color of the water and the sky and the rocks are the color of the land and somehow it all holds together perfectly. The matte canvas finish suits the quiet, high-key palette beautifully, keeping the transitions between those pale washes seamless.
