Tomales Bay

Description

Tomales Bay sits in the middle distance the way it always does, pale and still, the hills rolling down to meet it on both sides with that particular shade of coastal green that exists almost nowhere else in California. The foreground is all scrub and rock and the kind of rough, unpretentious landscape that Point Reyes does better than anywhere, and above it all a sky full of soft moving clouds that look like they've been out here all day with no particular destination. This watercolor canvas print is quiet and a little raw, the brushwork loose and honest, the palette kept deliberately cool and muted in a way that captures the marine layer feel of that coastline even on a clear day.
