Lighthouse Santa Cruz

Description

The Santa Cruz lighthouse is a modest building for a lighthouse, which is part of what makes it so easy to like. Brick and wood, green shutters, a small lantern room on top, the whole thing sitting close to the water with a pale grey sky behind it that could mean fog burning off or coming in, it's hard to tell and doesn't much matter either way. This watercolor canvas print catches it straight on and without ceremony, warm browns and cool greys and those green shutters providing just enough color to keep the whole thing from disappearing into the mist. There is a small figure near the base, barely there, which gives the building its scale and the painting its quiet human note.
