Gray Day on Pacific Coast

Description

This one is a companion to the first, same stretch of coast, same grey sky, a slightly different angle and a little more beach in the foreground. The headland is still there on the left, the rocks still scattered out in the water, the surf still running that cool green and white along the sand. What changes is the mood, which is somehow even quieter here, the empty beach stretching wide in the lower half of the canvas, a few footprints maybe, the whole scene feeling less like a view and more like a moment of standing there alone with the Pacific doing its thing. The watercolor palette is kept deliberately spare, cool greys and muted teals and the soft white of the foam, nothing added that doesn't belong. The matte canvas finish suits it perfectly. Gallery-stretched on a slim 1.25" pine frame and ready to hang out of the box, it pairs naturally with its companion piece or holds its own just as well on a wall by itself, for anyone who knows this coastline in all its moods and wouldn't trade the grey days for anything.
