Big Sur

Description

Big Sur at dusk, the rocks doing what Big Sur rocks do, which is loom dramatically from both sides while a strip of impossibly blue-green water runs through the middle toward the open ocean. The sky has gone pink and lavender, which lasts about twenty minutes down there before the light drops out entirely. The watercolor treatment works with the landscape rather than against it, bold flat shapes, deep purples in the rock faces, warm sandy tones at the base, nothing fussy. The matte canvas finish keeps those big color transitions clean. Gallery-stretched on a slim 1.25" pine frame and ready to hang out of the box, it's for anyone who has driven Highway 1 at the end of the day and pulled over because they had no other reasonable option.
